It takes a lot of work to make a live-action movie set around a game; that's why the Minecraft movie release date isn't anytime soon.
There’s been a great deal of chatter around the live-action Minecraft movie, but a release date was not part of it. That changes now. In a release, Mojang set the Minecraft movie release date and added a bit of humor to why it is going to take so long for the long-awaited game adaptation to make it to the big screen.
Yea, waiting until March 4, 2022, for the release of the Minecraft movie feels like forever. As Mojang put it, it’s only 1,053 days, almost 34 months, or 150 weeks. They even outlined the minutes until the Minecraft movie release date: A million and a half.
On a humorous note, Mojang conceded that making a full-length, live-action movie is “really complicated.” Yes, it is, and given the amount of time until the Minecraft movie hits theaters, they better deliver a great product.
And on that note, what is the Minecraft movie plot anyway?
The Minecraft movie plot will focus on a teenage girl and her “unlikely group of adventurers.” A malevolent Ender Dragon will be on course for destruction, and the team must save their beautiful, blocky Overworld.
The Minecraft movie plot details could be a little more in depth, but that’s what we have for now. A director is set for the film: Peter Sollett (Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist). And partnering with Mojang to bring the Minecraft movie to theaters on March 4, 2022, is Warner Bros., the studio behind the LEGO movies, so they know a thing or two about blocks.
Mojang says the Minecraft movie will be different from the game, of course, but that it will be made for the fans.
“We’re inspired by countless things, but none as much as the incredible stuff our community creates in Minecraft every day. So keep it coming!”
