Film Review: ‘Bride Wars’

February 6, 2009 by Lauren Hillband

Kate Hudson and Anne Hathaway in Bride Wars

The overall premise of Bride Wars may appear to be funny but the actual movie given to the viewer is anything but satisfying. There is no real comedy or level of sentiment to the story and it fails to enthrall or delight the viewer with the characters antics. Instead, you get a large amount of whining and screaming from the women and passive aggressive men who are merely there as props who occasionally say something but no one is really listening.

Film Review: ‘New In Town’

February 6, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Renee Zellweger in New In Town

If you are looking for a light-hearted romantic comedy that will make you smile and feel good walking out of the theatre, New In Town delivers. The film has a great deal of personality and offers the viewer laughs, a possible cry, and may even make you cheer.

Film Review: ‘The Unborn’

February 6, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Gary Oldman in The Unborn

If it were not for the subpar performances, ridiculous story, cheap thrills, and poor special effects, The Unborn may have been a decent film. Then again, that is just about everything you expect from a film like this, and it fails on every level.

Film Review: ‘Paul Blart: Mall Cop’

February 2, 2009 by Lauren Hillband

Kevin James in Paul Blart: Mall Cop

Paul Blart: Mall Cop is not terrible, but not great either. You will laugh at times, some brought on by the actual comedy and others for its failure.

Film Review: ‘Gran Torino’

February 2, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino

The storyline is interesting and engaging in Gran Torino but it falls short due to the poor acting ability of many of the cast. It is also full of a variety of racist comments and stereotypes that may be offensive to the viewer.
