Oren Peli is the man to thank, or blame, depending on your preferences, for the found-footage phenomena’s that are the Paranormal Activity movies. He directed and wrote the first of the franchise, and has stayed on as writer for all three of the sequels (Paranormal Activity 4 is due in theatres Fall 2012). He also created a found-footage television show, as head writer, with The River. Oren Peli loves found-footage, and he continues this trend that he helped become the go-to style of horror filmmaking with his newest film, Chernobyl Diaries.

Chernobyl Diaries is directed by Bradley Parker (VFX Supervisor on Let Me In), but was written and produced by Oren Peli; it is of course, a found-footage horror movie. It also takes place at one of the most terrifying locations our world has created, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine, site of the catastrophic nuclear accident that occurred on April 26, 1986 and has left ripples of contamination from radiation ever since in Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia. Nuclear contamination + deserted complex + Oren Peli + a camera = A perfect combination for a horror film. Warner Bros. Pictures will release Chernobyl Diaries on May 25, 2012 for you to scare yourself silly over the Memorial Day Weekend.

Synopsis:
Chernobyl Diaries is an original story from Oren Peli, who first terrified audiences with his groundbreaking thriller, Paranormal Activity. The film follows a group of six young tourists who, looking to go off the beaten path, hire an “extreme tour” guide. Ignoring warnings, he takes them into the city of Pripyat, the former home to the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, but a deserted town since the disaster more than 25 years ago. After a brief exploration of the abandoned city, however, the group soon finds themselves stranded, only to discover that they are not alone…
