May 20, 2009 by Mike Bashien

A scene from The Uninvited

Looking for a decent horror movie? Look elsewhere. The Uninvited is a complete bore.

Film Review: ‘Knowing’

April 15, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Nicolas Cage in Knowing

As an apocalyptic thriller, Knowing could have been excellent but the added science fiction and horror angles detract from the story and take it too far into “alien” territory. If you can get through the short and forgettable scenes that take it there you will be entertained by a great mystery. One that delves into science and theology and the eternal conflict of man vs. nature.

Film Review: ‘Echelon Conspiracy’

March 4, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Shane West in Echelon Conspiracy

Echelon Conspiracy is just another go at the man vs. his own creation storyline; the poor man’s Skynet comes to mind. It lacks any sort of new excitement, unless you consider mysterious text messages exciting and fresh. You are purely given a tired story that would fare better on the small screen, as a movie of the week, then in a theater.

Film Review: ‘The Unborn’

February 6, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Gary Oldman in The Unborn

If it were not for the subpar performances, ridiculous story, cheap thrills, and poor special effects, The Unborn may have been a decent film. Then again, that is just about everything you expect from a film like this, and it fails on every level.

Film Review: ‘Underworld: Rise of the Lycans’

January 24, 2009 by Kathryn Schroeder

Michael Sheen (left) and Kevin Grevioux star in Screen Gems' action thriller UNDERWORLD: RISE OF THE LYCANS.

The storyline of Underworld: Rise of the Lycans is nothing extraordinary. It has action and romance but they are not overly exciting and the acting is by no means great. Underworld: Rise of the Lycans does entertain for the duration and gives insight into how the other films in the franchise fall into place, being this is a prequel.
