The main component of our review system is the use of
elements. What we have done is taken the main parts
of the filmmaking process and individually outlined
them for review.
What does this mean you may ask? Well, we rate the cinematography separately from the editing; the special effects from the directing; the production from the writing, and so on. When you read one of our reviews you will not find a lengthy essay style format. Instead, you will see comments under specific headings. These headings are the elements. Every film is reviewed with all possible elements in mind but not all of them will appear in the review. Why? Simply because not all elements of a film may stand out the way others do. When you read one of our reviews and a specific element is not highlighted for critique it simply means the technique employed was done satisfactorily. It is our goal to outline the things that stand out, for better or worse, or that are common in a specific type of film based on the expectations of the audience. |

Giving the audience what they desire is a key element
for any and every film. When you decide to see a film
you more than likely have expectations when you buy
the ticket. When you watch a horror movie you expect
it to scare or frighten. With a romance you more
than likely want to shed a few tears and with a
comedy you obviously want to laugh. Recognizing
these expectations, and many more, we highlight them
as well for our review. When reviewing a film we pay
special attention as to whether it lives up to its
expectations. No one wants to go and see a comedy
that is not funny, right? Right. We also recognize
that everyone has different opinions on whether a
movie is satisfying. So forgive us if you do not
agree, and let us know why by sending the reviewer
a message.
Even though our site is devoted to not looking at films as a whole in making decisions about whether to purchase your ticket we felt that many people still enjoy the overall rating, so you will find that each film is given an overall rating under the Production element. |

"The clocks"In order to employ this method of critique we developed our "clock" system for rating each element. In devising a film review moniker we acknowledged that the amount of time you spend driving to the theatre, buying tickets, getting your candy and popcorn, reserving your seats, and of course watching the film is time you can never get back if you are dissatisfied with the movie. This gave rise to the idea of using time as a means for ratings. |
