Arguably the most anticipated film of the Summer of 2012 for moviegoers is The Dark Knight Rises. The conclusion to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, that began with Batman Begins, and continued with The Dark Knight, will finally find its closure in The Dark Knight Rises. The story has been shrouded in mystery, aside from a few key plot points and of course the revealing of the story's villains, Bane (Tom Hardy) and, possibly, Catwoman, aka Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway). Christian Blake returns as Batman, aka Bruce Wayne, as do Michael Cane as Alfred, Gary Oldman's Commissioner Gordon, and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. Newcomers to the cast include Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate.
Various materials have been released for The Dark Knight Rises: stills, trailers, TV spots, and a 13-minute long featurette that goes behind the scenes with the cast and crew. All are below for your viewing pleasure.
The official synopsis for The Dark Knight Rises:
It has been eight years since Batman vanished into the night, turning, in that instant, from hero to fugitive. Assuming the blame for the death of D.A. Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act.
But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane.
