Film Review
Production
Given the fact that this movie simply reuses much of what has been seen in other teen comedies it becomes very dull, very fast. The characters are not original and the plot is wholly predictable. One would do better to watch an old teen movie that you know delivers what you desire.
Acting
The two main leads of the film, Shawn (Colfax) and Eric (Brady), are full of charisma and spot on most of the time with their delivery. The problem with the performances in the film stem from Sarah Roemer as Carly. She is undeniably flat and void of any type of emotion. Her comedic timing is nonexistent and she lacks any type of personality. She brings absolutely nothing to the film and her portrayal of Carly, the love interest, ruins what could have been a moderately decent romance.
Comedy Factor
In order to get most of the jokes in this film you have to be very good at connotation or incredibly aware of current pop culture. The comedy is a tad on the darker side and more subtle in its delivery. It is well thought out though and more mature, dare I say, for a teen comedy at times. As the movie finishes you realize that you never really laughed at all, merely smiled or smirked.
